Beauty and the Geek TV Show

Steve Muller is a self confessed geek.

If his passion for Tranformers doesn’t give him away, maybe his dream of taking a starring role in the new TV show Beauty and the Geek will.

But the Sunshine Coast 25 year old isn’t planning on exposing his inner feelings to the nation for nothing – he hopes there might be a job in it for him.

Steve was one of many locals who headed to Brisbane last week to try scoring a part on the upcoming Channel Seven reality series which features beautiful women trying to makeover geeks who, at the same time, endeavour to make the girls smarter.

He wants to be selected for the show in the hope it will open doors in his chosen profession as a journalist.

“Hopefully … and (they.people will see me as the guy from Beauty and the Geek will think) we will get that guy to do entertainment or that guy to do the geek stuff,” he said.

Before he even considers that, he has to make it through the screening process to be selected on the show. But if there is a bigger geek out there, let him stand up.

Steve’s body is covered with geeky markings like a Transformer’s tattoo, an X men tattoo, a Pacman belt buckle and a Watchmen backpack but it is perhaps his trip to Bot Con (a Transformers convention) earlier this year that puts him in the “biggest geek” category.

“I spent two and a half hours in line just to get Peter Cullen’s autograph,” he said. “His autograph signing was at 10.30 in the morning and I lined up for two and a half hours before that.”

Apparently, Peter Cullen is the original voice of Optimus Prime.

Steve’s Transformers’ obsession began from an early age and he finds explaining the reason for it very difficult.

“I think about that every day and I can’t honestly say,” he said. “There is something about just knowing you could be walking down the street and a car driving past could transform into a robot.”

Also at the auditions was Fiona Lewis – a 30 year old teacher’s aid from Sunshine Beach who said geeks were people too “even though sometimes they only have one eyebrow”.

But Fiona admitted she was a bit vague about what appearing on the show would entail.

“My friends only just told me they try to hook you up with nerds on the show,” the wannabe beauty said. “And the girl sitting next to me said you have to kiss them.”

Fellow Sunshine Coast auditioner, 21 year old Brooke Devries from Marcoola, also has some concerns about that element of the show.

The retail assistant manager who also runs her own spray tanning business said she didn’t put a lot of thought into why she was auditioning but thought it would be a good experience.

“I wouldn’t mind getting some modelling work out of it,” she said.

The word “Celebrity” when added with the popular reality show, Beauty and the Geek, seems like a synonym for grand celebration. Fans are really exited about how thrilling, having celebrities in the new season of Beauty and the Geek, is going to be. However, since the production of the new season has been put on hold, fans are really disappointed.

I, myself, was pretty ecstatic about the new season, since I heard the news about the celebrity season. I was hoping that the producers of show would be able to involve celebrities with diverse profiles. It would definitely have added to the charm of the show. But, in spite of the production of the new season of Beauty and the Geek being put on hold, I’m still hopeful that it commences sooner rather than later.

The show is a great learning experience for all those who think that either beauty is everything or that being intelligent means that we don’t fail in any aspect of our life. The show breaks these myths. Going by the history of Beauty and the Geek, we already know beauty and intelligence are complementary virtues.

By involving beautiful people with average looking people, the show really succeeds in teaching that intelligence and looks are two sides of the same coin. I definitely learnt a lot from the show, and I no longer consider myself complete unless I strive to excel in all spheres. The unique competitions between the teams in the show really are the USP of the show.

The celebrity version would have definitely made us more aware of the thought pattern in their world as well. We might have come to know about their insecurities and their real personalities. Let’s hope, the producers come up with this wonderful new season soon. Definitely fans are keeping their fingers crossed, and praying that the production of this very sensational season of the series resumes soon.

We all know Ashton Kutcher from his MTV hit Punk’d, but Ashton is also the mind behind this new hit Beauty and the Geek. The show is a pseudo makeover over game where polar opposite people are coupled together and tested on each others weaknesses. The geeks (the men) have not a style, fashion, or romantic bone in their bodies; whereas the beautiful women would have a tough time keeping up with an 8th grade science class.



Each week will test the men’s weak points involve buying stylish clothing and makeup for their respective beauties as well as how to give a sensual massage. The women will literally have to build rockets and study the cosmos. The couples will face various challenges on their road to the $250,000 grand prize. The most reformed couple as a whole will walk away a quarter of a million dollars richer. Reportedly this is to be the first of many reality series from MTV star Ashton Kutcher, so keep a look out for more unscripted comedic genius.

After a season of less-than-satisfying twists thrown at us willy-nilly, we are finally down to the wire on Beauty and the Geek. In tonight’s season finale, we will find out which among the final three teams will win a quarter of a million dollars and the chance to call themselves “more than just a beauty and a geek.” Three teams remain: Chris and Cara, Tommy and Amanda, and Matt and Leticia. This is quite possibly the last episode of Beauty and the Geek ever, so I hope they don’t hold anything back.

The three remaining teams gather in the library to meet Mike Richards. All the couches are gone, and the room is furnished with chairs and curtains. Mike tells them that one of the teams must leave right now, and who goes will be determined by how well each of them knows their partners.

Mike asks the beauties what their geek partners think their hidden talents are, and he asks the geeks what superpower their beauties would want, among other questions. Chris and Cara get enough answers correct to guarantee them a spot in the final two, so now it’s down to the other two. It’s sudden death. The question is directed at the beauties: what is the first thing that their geeks do in the morning. Leticia says that Matt pees, and Matt says that he takes a shower (when in actuality, he pees first with the shower running because he doesn’t like people to hear him pee. Oh, neuroses!) Amanda and Tommy both say that, first thing in the morning, Tommy exercises, so they are in the final two. Sad! That means that Matt and Leticia must immediately leave the house.

This is such a cheap way to get kicked off the show. It’s like the CW really doesn’t care about this show anymore, and unceremoniously got rid of Matt and Leticia just because they overstayed their welcome.

The final two teams gather together again in the library to find out their final challenge. Over the next two days, the two teams will go head-to-head in one final challenge. There is one final surprise waiting for them outside on the patio. They head outside to find all the eliminated teams back! (I guess since there is no reunion show, they have to do something to bring everyone back.) Jonathan has given himself a makeover, and of course, Jim is looking as hot as ever. Tommy’s anxious to see Amber, but Amber is “frickin’ pissed” to hear about Tommy’s shenanigans with Tara. There’s a lot of drama going on and rumors flying around, mostly about Tara and spread by Kristina, apparently. Tara confronts Kristina, and their argument is riddled with “Are you kidding me?”s and “Oh no, you di’in’t”s. Meanwhile, Tommy can’t get enough of Amber, making Amanda feel left out.

The next day, the remaining teams wake up to find that all the former castmates are gone. Naturally, Tommy gets whiny about not getting a chance to say good-bye to Amber. Mike Richards tells the teams that the former castmates are hanging out at some spot in Los Angeles that fits with their personalities. The teams are given a limo, a computer and clues, and they will have three hours to find as many teams as possible. The team who brings back more passengers will win a quarter of a million dollars.

Cara directs her team to FIDM to find Amber, but Chris confuses things by giving bad directions. They eventually find Amber. Amanda and Tommy run through five lanes of L.A. traffic to find Jonathan. Cara directs her limo driver to go to a different neighborhood, and Chris gets really condescending about how he has learned to communicate with people with lesser intelligence than he has. They go to Gold’s Gym to find Jason, but Tommy and Amanda have already retrieved him. Matt is almost next door at the literary center, and Chris and Cara get him first.

Both teams are in hot pursuit of Greg next, practically simultaneously, but Chris and Cara get to him first. Cara is pretty much carrying her team, successfully locating Tiffany. Tommy and Amanda find Randi, and then just beat out their competitors to find Tara. Tommy and Amanda go after John E next, but their driver fails to merge onto the highway, throwing a wrench into their plans.

Back at the mansion, the two teams stand in front of their limos as passengers reveal themselves, one by one. Chris and Cara have picked up four passengers, but Tommy and Amanda have five. Tommy and Amanda are the fifth winners of Beauty and the Geek. They are more than just a beauty and a geek, which – duh! – because Tommy was never a geek in the first place.

We recently reported that the star of That ’70s Show appeared in the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball, where he was accompanied by none other than Demi Moore.  There, he told the Associated Press how much he and Moore believed in the organization’s thrust, and how they have been supporting it through the years.  Aside from Kutcher, the star studded event included stars from hit television shows such as Grey’s Anatomy .  Aside from this charity event, Kutcher has had a lot on his plate this past few weeks.  In fact, the creator of Beauty and the Geek has been very busy with his new big screen offering entitled What Happens in Vegas , where he stars alongside Cameron Diaz.

However, it isn’t these endeavors that have gotten the attention of Kutcher fans all over the States.  Recently, the actor has sported a scruffy look, which some attributed to a new role he is supposed to play.  Apparently, we all got it wrong, because an insider tells In Touch that he grew his facial hair for religious reasons!

"Unlike what people think, Ashton is not growing a beard for a role," an insider told the magazine.  "He is growing it because of the Jewish and Kabbalah holiday called Lag Ba’Omer.  There is actually meaning behind it."

While Kutcher and Moore are not Jewish, they enjoy studying Kabbalah, which is closely related to Judaism.  In fact, the Lag Ba’Omer holiday, which fell on May 23rd, actually represents the end of the 49-day mourning between Passover and Shavuot, wherein Jews and Kabbalah followers refrain from worldly indulgences such as music, parties and shaves and haircuts.

However, E! Online reports that the Lag Ba’Omer should be the window of time wherein men are allowed to get rid of their stubble, which apparently Kutcher decided to pass on.  Yesterday though, we saw Kutcher beard-less and back to normal.  Now fans are waiting what else is he cooking up for the next Jewish holiday.
